    Description

Presented is an antique, sterling silver, glass lined mustard pot with serving spoon/ladle made by Joseph Angell I & John Angell I of London in 1836. The Georgian mustard pot is done in a classic barrel form and it has a decorative, shell-form thumb piece. The cobalt blue glass liner is original. The lid has an script monogram that reads: JR to MH. The spoon is not original to the mustard pot, but it is of the same time period and was made in 1846. The handle of the spoon is done in an English King or Queen style pattern.
The body of the pot and the lid are marked with the lion passant for sterling silver purity, a date letter A for the year 1836 and a maker's mark for Joseph Angell I & John Angell I. The body is also marked with the leopard's head for the city of London and a duty mark of the king's head. The spoon also has a full set of English hallmarks.
This piece is in great overall condition, especially considering age. There is a very tiny chip to the rim of the glass liner.
Dimensions: 2 3/4 inches in diameter and 2 3/8 inches tall at the thumb-piece.
    Spoon Length: 4 1/8 inches.
Total Silver Weight: 147 grams or 5.18 ounces.
Total weight with glass liner: 234 grams or 8.26 ounces.
