    Description

Presented is an antique, English sterling silver mustard pot with serving ladle made by William Smily of London in 1843. The mustard pot is done in a classic barrel form and it has never been monogrammed. The hinged lid has a shell-form thumb piece. The cobalt blue, thick glass liner is original. The spoon is a great fit and was made in 1838. The front of the spoon handle has a script monogram of the initials GAP.
The lid and body are marked with the lion passant for sterling silver purity, a date letter h for the year 1843 and a maker's mark for William Smily. The body is also marked with the leopard's head for London and a duty mark of Queen Victoria's head. The spoon also has a full set of English hallmarks.
This piece is in great overall condition, especially considering age. There is some surface wear to the body, but no major flaws or repairs. The spoon is not a perfect fit, but it is very close, as you can see in the photographs.
Dimensions: 2 3/4 inches in diameter and 2 3/8 inches tall at the thumb-piece.
    Spoon Length: 4 1/8 inches.
Total Silver Weight: 112 grams or 3.95 ounces.
Total weight with glass liner: 192 grams or 6.78 ounces.
